Hello :)
Hello everyone! Hi mom!! Happy Thursday! Also I know it has been a hot minute so happy October!! I believe I am halfway through my first semester of college as of this week- go me! Go all my college people! GO GRIZ! Anyway, I hope all who are reading this are having a lovely week and experiencing lots of little happy things. Time to get into today's topic! *Drum Roll Please*
The Hello Walk! As you can see in the pictures I inserted, my school has a Hello Walk!! It's this long sidewalk that students got to paint with greetings, words of encouragement, funny things, pictures, etc. Isn't it the cutest thing!? I wanted to participate in painting it but then I realized these people were like professional artists and they pulled out all the stops so I was content to just observe as they created. Legend says that if you walk on the Hello Walk and don't say hi to everyone you come into contact with, you will fail your next exam. I thought that was a sweet superstition because I was imagining a bunch of friendly people saying hi to more friendly people on their way to class. And that's how it would be... in theory. Realistically, the closest I have gotten to someone saying "hello" to me on the Hello Walk has been an exchange of sheepish smiles.
So that is a slight bummer and I know that I could be the one who is super outgoing and energetic, who says, "Hi! Howdy! Good Day! Beautiful weather we're having!" to everyone I see but I'm unfortunately, an energy matcher... No actually though, it can be so awkward. People usually have earbuds in or giant headphones on and they seem to be looking at everything and everyone except you as you cross paths. And then there's people who are in conversations as they walk the path or people who just stare at the ground with purpose as they go. So basically, the Hello Walk backfired and I feel my heart beat faster every time I have to walk on it which probably isn't good and I should probably work on that. But long story short, if the legend is true- we're all failing our next midterms. Whoops!
Also this is random, but why do professors call every exam a midterm?? Like, how do you assign three midterms when you're only in the middle of the term once? Just something my friends and I have agreed is odd. But yeah!
Okay, so that is all I have for this blog post! I know you must be sad to see me go, and I'm sad to be going as well but I have so many thoughts that I'm going to use for all of my future blog posts so I thought I would keep this one short and sweet! I hope you all say "hello" to people you don't know on your afternoon walks or morning walks or evening walks, etc. Be better than us college kids.
All My Love, Brookie <3
